A HOLLYWOOD MOVIE!! (Oh, and some gigs)
Pugwash goes to Hollywood…..
Hi everyone and welcome to a mini-update.
Over the past few months most normal Pug happenings have had to take a back seat whilst the immediate future (and past) of the band was sorted out…..and sorted it has been!!
The wonderful news alluded to in the opening paragraph will be officially announced, with a press release, within the next 2 weeks. So stay tuned.
In other Mini-Update news the long awaited movie Pride And Glory starring Colin Farrell (No relation to Keith!!), Ed Norton and Jon Voight recently opened worldwide to fantastic reviews.
‘Warner Brothers’ announced that the movie would open in the U.S in 2,000 cinemas on it’s opening day!! There was also an extensive TV ad campaign in Great Britain and Ireland to accompany the release. As we’re sure you know this news is relevant as the Pugwash track ‘Anyone Who Asks’ is featured prominently in the movie so run out this weekend and catch the movie…..just don’t bring the kids!!
In Irish gig news the band will be playing an Amnesty International gig this Friday (November 14th) in Waterford with good friends The Republic Of Loose and will be sole support to The Stunning in The Tripod Dublin on December the 19th. We hope to see some Pug-Fans at either or both of those shows.
And finally…..speaking of Amnesty, Thomas was recently proud to play a role in what people are calling the gig of the year which took place last month in Vicar Street Dublin.
It was part of the Amnesty Small Places Tour, was set up by our very own head of 1969 Records Daragh Bohan and it was a Piano duel to the DEATH…..featuring Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy and Mr. Duke Special himself!! It was a phenomenal success (Which may happen again…..) and even though it’s wobbly and grainy below is Thomas, The Duke and Neil covering the Carly Simon classic ‘You’re so vain’!!
Until next time folks…..xxxxx
