PUGWASH 2008

No…..not just ourselves throwing plaudits our way in an egotistical moment of self praise…..no sir-ee!! The headline quote is taken from the new Hot Press magazine (Ireland’s number one rock magazine if you will).

The issue features a ‘Hot for 2008’ section were it lists the albums that are most anticipated by Irish acts. And amongst U2 and Snow Patrol sits our good selves with a belter of a recommendation for Eleven Modern Antiquities Thank you to everyone at ‘Hot Press’ for their obvious supreme musical knowledge and taste!!

Thomas has only recently recorded an interview with the wonderful Stuart Clark for a substantial ‘Hot Press’ feature to be issued around the time of the new album release which is now March 14th. The interview was conducted in the studio whilst the band (including our friend Neil Hannon) were recording a B-Side for the second single from ‘Eleven Modern Antiquities’ a cover of an ‘Idle Race’ track entitled ‘On with the show’.

Before the album comes out in March there will be a limited-edition release of the first single ‘Take me away’. The release date for the single will be February 22nd. You will be able to download the single (which will also feature the ‘Pride and glory’ movie track ‘Anyone who asks’ as it’s flip!!) on i-tunes and buy physical copies (for a limited time) over at the 1969 Records shop. There will also be some copies available for sale in Dublin at Tower Records and Road Records. We advise that you check with those outlets first though.

There’s plenty of Pug-PR happening already in Ireland (News of the world, Hot Press, The Ticket) so keep your eyes peeled in the the press for interviews and news. We will of course strive to let you know of all these bits and bobs before they happen but that can be tricky. We will however try and post up relevent press after it’s happened, either here or on our plethora of MySpace thingys!!

What we do know is that the Pugs will be appearing on the top-rated RTE2 TV show Podge & Rodge on March 4th. They will perform a ‘cover version’ of a cheesy-pop song as decided by the spinning of a wheel. The lads are very honoured to appear as they are big fans of this wonderful irreverent comic duo. So remember the date – March 4th.

We’d like to take this oppurtunity to thank all our new fans over at the MySpace sites for coming on board…..YOU’RE JUST IN TIME FOR THE NEW ALBUM!!

Thank you all, more soon. xxxxx

I’ll be buying this album and playing some selected tracks from it on my podcast show in March. Much success for it.
