OH WHAT A NIGHT.....!!!!!
About to go to pop battle…..!!
Clockwise from top left – Keith, Tosh, Thomas, Johnny, Gregsy, Paul, Nelson and Neil
Well…..what can we say? Whelans – Thursday the 27th of March 2008 could well be a pivotal day in our little band’s history!! What a special night for all concerned. Full house, special guests, crowd singing along…..all the perfect ingredients for a musical feast and everyone gorged themselves!!
The night began with a wonderful support set from an excellent new songwriter Rob Cunningham and then with an introduction from comedian and ‘Little Britain’ star Paul Putner the band took to the stage. Not alone was the core of ‘Pugwash’ intact (Thomas, Keith & Johnny) but it was augmented on this special night by the hugely talented Tony ‘Tosh’ Flood also, having flown in from L.A specifically to play the gig we had the Grammy Award winning percussive genius of Mr. Nelson Bragg and last but not least the one and very only Neil Hannon
You’d think that all this would be spoiling you but oh no…..!!
For the entire three song encore the Pugs were joined by Dave Gregory who played the solo, along with ‘Tosh’, of ‘Here’ then stayed on stage to play on ‘It’s nice to be nice’ and the barnstorming Brontasaurus-esque ‘Landsdowne Valley’!!
By this time the stage had 2 more ‘band’ members. Mr. Putner had jumped up to shake some marraca’s and former/current/future life-time honourary member of ‘Pugwash’ Mr. Aidan O’Grady had joined Nelson behind cymbals, woodblocks and all kinds of percussive nik-nakery to enhance the occasion even more!!

Love to one and all who came to support The Pugs at Whelans
WHAT A NIGHT…..!!!!!
